This was a four-legged walking machine that I built as part of a team for an Intro to Mechanical Design class. The challenge was to make a capacitor-driven walking machine powered by a motor. We dubbed our final product the “Tumbler” for its tendency to fall over after just a few steps.
Despite the Tumbler’s final performance, we used this opportunity to play with integrating purchased components into our own lasercut and 3D printed parts, and experiment with less traditional mechanical devices such as a timing belts and crank sliders into our design.
